  1. Brent Bannan is having a second interview with UCLA. FML
  2. As a DC? A head coach would make little sense
  3. Trying to get out of the consequences of his own actions. If only he could have avoided that by caring about being the head coach at UCLA
  4. Not really unless they want to give KNJ the interim title for a year. But the roster would be further decimated.
  5. He is taking a 5 million dollar loss to be an OC. He was about to be fired but then we went and beat a shitty USC team.
  6. Pretty sure neither school cared much about Cal/Stanford and I think Stanford would have been in before Oregon/UW if Notre Dame had committed to the B10. USC was apparently adamant about not having Oregon in the conference, but that apparently lasted about a year. Oregon and Washington were much bigger threats in California, but west coast schools recruit well in the state when they are good. Cal doesn't recruit well because they suck. Stanford recruits differently.
  7. To be fair, I don't think SDSU actually showed up for that game.
  8. I don't think it was a threat right now. But depending on the arms race in the next set, I dont think the B10 wanted a loose end.
  9. They also didn't want the SEC to sniff around LA either. They wanted the whole market.
  10. Looks like Conference play began at the end of March for baseball. I just searched up Michigan and it looks like they hosted CSUF the second week of April for a noncon matchup. Looks like softball starts about the same time. Softball, I counted 7 series, so that is 3/4 road series a year. I think I counted 8 for baseball, so similar pattern. I'd imagine baseball, especially USC, probably loves the switch. Ditching ASU, Arizona, Stanford, Oregon, OSU, and even Cal baseball for the B10 has to help that program get back on track again. You probably get one cold series a year. If you didnt open with WSU or the mountain teams, it''s probably not much different.
  11. Seems like the "compromise" is getting UCLA to give Cal some money. I am not sure how getting Ucla to pay Cal a subsidy, when the Regents already subsidize Cal athletics to the tune of $35M/ per year and give $0/year to Ucla athletics, is a win for Newsome. Frankly, I really want to know why the taxpayer is subsidizing Cal athletics to the tune of $35M/year (Ucla athletics is in debt because it doesn't get subsidized) when it can use those funds in a manner which much better serves the campus communities.
