CCG TV Ratings

AAC being on ABC and having the Access bowl on the line really helped.   Having back to back games between BSU/FSU really hurt....not to mention going up against the Big 10 CCG with a playoff spot on the line.   Being on ESPN does us no favors....we got more from OTA on CBS even at a late start time.

SEC:  Georgia/Auburn: 8.0 rating, 13.466M viewers
B1G:  OSU/Wisconsin: 7.3 rating, 12.918M viewers
BIG 12: Oklahoma/TCU: 3.8 rating, 5.896M viewers
ACC:  Clemson/Miami: 3.2 rating, 5.428M viewers
PAC:  USC/Standford: n/a rating, 3.657M viewers (Friday)
AAC:  UCF/Memphis: 2.3 rating, 3.385M viewers
MAC:  Toledo/Akron: 0.45 rating, 0.652M viewers
MWC:  Boise/Fresno: 0.39 rating, 0.623M viewers
CUSA:  No. Texas/FAU: n/a rating, 0.255M viewers
SUN: Troy/Ark State: n/a rating, 0.225M viewers

Good job Boise, legit earning your pay with that number.

I think Georgia/Auburn was on at the same time too.

Let's see what kind of numbers you get for the LV Bowl.

You know, so we can compare your game against a P5 school with what SDSU drew last year playing that game against another G5.

Boom goes the dynamite.

Yeah but wasn't the game last year on ABC (I know it has been on ABC before) and it's on ESPN this year? I mean look at the discrepancies above with network v cable viewer shares...if it's the case it was on ABC last year and ESPN this year, it only makes sense that the ratings would be precipitously lower this year.

You make a valid point.

But isn't the fact it wasn't on ABC again yet another indictment of the numbnutz commissioner this conference has?

Boom goes the dynamite.

The MWCCG was on ESPN directly opposite of the Big 10 CCG on FOX.  That's some stiff competition.

Cue Bob still embarrassed to admit who he roots for.

There's an unwritten rule on this board that every school has to have at least one token dolt. Bob satisfies that need for Wyo Nation.

Why are people bitching at Boise for the tv ratings? Doesn’t that kind of go against all of us MWC fans? I had to choose between the MWC, Big 10 and ACC games....I chose the MWC. If you chose otherwise you are part of the problem and helping put distance between P5 and G5.

Thank you for posting this data--it is very interesting.

1.  It is interesting that the B12, with only 10 schools and a much smaller population base, outdrew the PAC-12 and ACC-14 (plus Notre Dame interested fans).  Once the Longhorns get their act together, I expect the TV ratings for regular B12 conference games and the B12 Conference Championship game to increase.

2.  AAC has been up and down with its tv ratings during the regular season.  There is no continuity that would allow an AAC fan to make a prediction with certainty regarding the upcoming TV contract.  Some AAC games have drawn very well, outdrawing some P5 games telecast at the same time.  But TV ratings for other AAC games have been awful.  But it is interesting that the AAC drew a TV audience comparable to PAC-12.  Whereas the PAC-12 had no TV competition from another conference championship game, the AAC went against the B12 championship broadcast.  Many AAC fans are hopeful for a TV contract with more money, given the addition of Wichita State for basketball and folding Navy into the AAC contract (excluding Army/Navy game).  The 3.385M viewers for the AAC Championship game certainly helps the cause of AAC in future contract negotiations.

3.  The MAC must be pleased with its TV audience, given that it too was going up against P5 Conference Championship games.

The B12 moved the OU/OSU game up from the end of the season to a month earlier to prevent having these two teams play back to back similar to Fresno State/Boise in the MWC Championship game.  It was thought before the 2017 season that it would be these two teams in the B12 championship game.  The MWC probably needs to review the past season and those MWC teams deemed in contention for the MWC conference championship should play early in the season to avoid this back to back situation.

Or just don’t have cross divisional games any later than October.....
