Didn't SJSU make a good run at him? If I understood correctly, your new HC helped recruit him to OSU so there was some sort of established relationship there. I wonder why he didn't choose SJSU?

It's a no brainer.

Would you rather play for a proven winning head coach in Tedford or a proven losing (outside) WRs coach in Brennen?

Have you been on the insider board? Apparently Brennan's messages to Marcus have leaked.

Lotta work there

Agreed. Way more work than he's putting into his recruiting of high school kids. Does he have his first verbal yet? Not to worry....Brennan is SO YOUNG AND ENERGETIC!!!  The verbals will come pouring in soon.

Well that seals it. At Oregon State the most important position on the field will be filled either by a kid originally at Idaho or a kid originally at Utah State.

You hear that Rams? Absolutely no excuse for you not to be hard on The Beav two weeks from now.

Boom goes the dynamite.

The kid from Idaho was already named the starter -which triggered this transfer.

Having checked, Luton had a 5.3 rating from Rivals coming out of HS. Although he threw for a bunch of yards in 2016 at Ventura College, he operated out of a spread offense. Gary Andersen hasn't been using a spread, has he?

He hasn't. But I guess that's his plan going forward. Air raid.

Yes, he's always used the spread for his offenses.

Andersen wants a run-and-shoot type offense.

He hired Jason Phillips this year as Passing Game Coordinator / Wide Receivers Coach. Phillips was the Co-OC for June Jones at SMU. Oregon State's OC is Kevin McGiven who was OC at Utah State in 2013/2014.

The kid from USU was a good Q.B. he beat BYU in Provo had a winning record, won his bowl in San Diego against a ranked school, he was a real loss to the program.

Worked out fine for Hawaii & Colt Brennan.

Colt was a JC boundback from Colorado. He had the surrounding pieces and system in place already before he earned the starting job.  We had Brian Muniz waiting in the wings. The stable of QB's was already set. Colt just came in and won the job, not like he came in to save the program.

Colt was a JC transfer, although he originally began his career at Colorado. He had off the field issues during his Freshman year at Colorado, where the charges later got dismissed (If I am remembering correctly). It was the reason he transferred to a JC (got kicked off at Colorado) and played a season there. Also the reason JJ recruited him (as he was a guy to give second chances to players).

Colt was a 4* QB during JC, but many thought either Tyler Graunke (who was the #2 QB all 4 years behind Colt/Moniz), or Jack Rolovich (Nick Rolovich's brother) would be the starter.

Norm Chow was the master of P5 QB transfers...Sean Schroeder (Duke transfer), Taylor Graham (Ohio State transfer), Max Wittek (USC transfer) all in 4 seasons of him as HC. Yet the only player to keep the starting spot for a season outside of Sean Schroeder was a guy that Mack recruited as a greyshirt (Ikaika Woolsey) lol.

Lol, if you're relying on transfer QB's, your in bigger trouble then you realize. Nothing in the stable.

WTF? He's got 2 years to play. How many HS QB's start for more than 2 years? Of course, they're getting younger QB's going through the system so that in 2.5 years they'll be ready to  compete in Summer ball for the 2019 season.

Therefore most or all transfer QB's are a bust? You're dealing with Norm Chow here. He f's everything up. Norm could dress up Alabama's starters in Hawaii uni's & play H's MWC schedule and still find a way to not get bowl eligible.

Nah not saying that. Just saying P5 transfers don't win jobs because they are P5 transfers and sometimes there is a reason they don't play at the P5 school. Some just end up not developing past HS. Also that Norm Chow couldn't recruit a decent HS QB even though he was known as a 'QB Guru' lol.

The dude hasn't even attended fall camp at Fresno St. good luck with that. No redshirt to use, a year learning the system and a year to play. In the meantime, no QB to take over the raines

This reminds me of the Vernon Adams/Oregon situation 2 years ago. Adams was trying to get to Oregon as a Graduate Transfer in January of 2015, but it turned out that he still needed a couple more classes to graduate from EWU. As a result, Adams missed Oregon's spring game and most of the summer and didnt arrive until mid August and as a result of missing all that off-season to train with Oregon, Adams was very inconsistent when he finally played.

So you're say he's majorly slow at learning plays? It depends how complicated the offense is, many aren't that bad. He just needs to learn as much as he can by game 1. You're not going to use much of your play book in game 1 against Incarnate Word, anyway. Then Alabama is a body bag blood bath game and let him loose and see what he can do.

Or you put him in to start MWC play in game 5 and go from there. Man, just looking at Fresno's schedule......holy crap. Has Pat Hill been doing game scheduling for the past few years or so? They probably didn't know how far down in the dumps DeyRetardo was going to get them. But even if Fresno was at normal strength, it would still contribute to keeping Fresno down. @ Alabama & Washington back to back? That. Shit. Is. Cruel.

I'm almost feeling bad for dog fans....how depressing. After game 1, there aren't many opportunities to win.  Alabama, Washington, BYU, Boise St. SDSU, Wyoming, Nevada & Hawaii???????? I think those are all loses. Probably UNM, too. Maybe catch SAN! in a down year and maybe go to the wire with UNLV? I'm seeing 3-9 or 2-10. Damn, now I'm wondering why the kid transferred to Fresno. He'll endure the chit storms to build them back up but will miss the better seasons.
