It would be fun to hear a conversation between @jackmormon and @Akkula on those dastardly banana clips. LOL

Honest question for guys who don't just get good enough to shoot the stupid mulie who silhouettes itself 150 yards away-

How do you hit anything on a boat like that? Super high angle, trade winds, both boats are rocking in different directions - what do you do?

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

I was thinking the same thing, that skiff is probably moving at 25 knots, the container ship at 15, all kinds of wind like you said.  Although those splashes were pretty close.

For self defense against small boats the navy typically uses 50 cal crew manned or 20 up to 30 mm remote machine guns.  Lots and lots of rounds, and much bigger than .223.  You're  not going to put a chain gun on a freighter, but I would have guessed something like a m240, that they could move to the positions they had set up.

Like old sddude said, what they used obviously worked, and those guys were clearly pros, so they would know what is needed.

Trial and error I'd suppose. Kinda like adjusting a golf shot into the wind.

Shooting that far out is basically an attempt to deter the pirates from coming closer. The closer they get. The closer the shots.

All is well, For Rice is gone.

This is a carbine that most people would refer to as a machine gun...

I would say that's what most people refer to as an assault rifle. It's semi-automatic. It fires one round at a time as fast as you squeeze the trigger. What's heard in the video are several of these firing rapidly at the same time. A machine gun fires continuously at a much higher rate. The standard light machine gun used by US forces nowadays fires more than 10 rounds per second.

It's always cute to see you folks split hairs over magazines and clips. except for the military and nouveau 2nd amendment fanatics, the terms have been pretty much interchangeable. Things are what people call them. And people have been calling removable magazines clips for decades. long before the "assault" rifle discussions.

Here is a google image search for "30 round banana clip". What you will see is a whole lot of magazines. not so much for clips.

That is an M-4. it can be switched between semi and fully auto.

Certainly the old M-16 that it's based on, and that I was issued, could fire automatic (although the latter wasn't very accurate). My understanding is (undoubtedly someone on here will know) that the standard-issue M-4 today fires either semi-automatic or three-round bursts.

"most people" call concrete "cement" and concrete masonry units "cinder blocks" too.

It's always fun to watch anti gun nut jobs like you and other DNC operatives demonize firearms at every opportunity.

I'm surprised those pirates are still at it after the events in that movie, Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks).   Although they didn't show it on film, in real life those pirates literally got their heads blown off by those Navy Seal snipers.

You saw the beginning of Captain Phillips didn't you? They don't have a lot of options.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.
