Sports charter planes, back to buses......

Recommended Posts

Wow.  There is so much silent commentary on modern sports in this article.

The impact of realignment on travel, NFL teams unable to fly on an airline without first class and hot meals.

Does any team without their own 737 and pilot have any business going to a BOR?

Do you guys have something solid worked out for your teams? Seems like I remember Hawaiian Airlines having some kind of partnership with your Athletic Department. If so, do they also fly teams from the Big West and MWC out from the mainland to you for games?

It was Aloha Airlines that flew UH on charter flights as they had smaller jets than Hawaiian.  Aloha Airlines ceased all passenger operations in 2008.  Hawaii has been flying commercial most of the time since then.  Because they fly commercial, the average travel/transportation/lodging/per diem cost to the football team for a road game had been about $150,000 as of 2015. They did have a couple of charters(via Hawaiian Airlines) this past season to Sydney and Ann Arbor.  For all the other sports, teams have almost always flown commercial during the season.

I think the CUSA should break apart into two conferences. CUSA East can just add Liberty and UMASS. CUSA West can simply add New Mexico State, and a western FCS school. Easy solution.

I think the MWC should do the same.

At this point in time the west division would be worse than the Sun Belt, and rival the Big Sky. Hopefully that isn't the case in a few years.

The East could add New Mexico State and Wichita State.  I think we should just stay at 6.

An independent football association with olys in the BW sounds good to me.

Thanks Dr., that was interesting. The next thing you know we're going to be reading about a bus shortage.

Some teams have been busing for decades:

Hair has decided that using SKYPE is the solution for this problem in the MWC.

If football doesn't matter...

The champ has come from the western group in all but one year.  I'll take my chances with the western schools being good at football over the long haul.

I'll fade ya'. How about a bet on which division the champion comes from over the next five seasons?
