Most Californians unwilling to pay for "free" healthcare ....

It could be said no one gets left out in the old system either since anyone can go to the emergency room and stick taxpayers with the bill after hospitals raise costs and pass costs along to cover indigent care costs

Single payer actually makes it so even if you want to pay for diagnostic tests that have long waits like 9 months for a cat scan in Canada.  You are not allowed.   That means your stage 1 cancer is diagnosed at stage 3 and you die instead of costing Canada a whole bunch of money for treatment.

If you come into a little county hospital in Nevada with no insurance and obviously the inability to pay a big bill.  You will still get a cat scan within a week, often the same day.   If cancer is diagnosed you will be refered to an oncologist who will treat you with no real expectation of being paid.  You might get a whole bunch of pressure to raise money but they will treat you and your stage one cancer will likely be cured.

While you are lamenting the fact you had to file bankruptcy 48 months later and complaining about the high cost of medical care.  The canadian family is having a funeral and thanking their government that they don't have a big medical bill.    I know which position I would rather be in.

No moron, just like in your single payer plan the paying is done by other people.

The difference is the care is not rationed out in a way that is intended reduce health care costs by not having to treat expensive patients for a long period.

So it's basically like before the ACA when costs keep going up to cover the uninsured

When costs were going upward because of the 65% of medical care that was under government control prior to the ACA.

Upward at a slower pace then after the ACA.

I would love for all these +++++s to move back to California.

However, the higher taxes would literally just push more of their trash right into Las Vegas.

Why would someone move from Nevada back into California to pay more for less and then add another 15% tax onto it?

No experiment needed.

The politics in Nevada are heavily influenced by the trash from California.

I'm all for it if they do. Would be a great experiment in the philosophy of states competing with one another. The most interesting thing would be what would happen with neighboring states like Arizona and Nevada. Would companies and households relocate to or from California as a result? I think I know the answer but the real question is whether or not California is willing to test the risk vs reward.

Imagine if California could put up tariffs or import restrictions on states that didn't have minimum worker standards for insurance.   Instead they are forced to partake in the race to the bottom with the state who wants to fill Vietnam 's role at the federal level.  I am guessing California would do just fine a's well as workers in other states.

If California secedes, expect Idaho to put these signs back up:

Oh no! How will the "little Vietnams" in the south be able to afford to go to movies, post on Facebook and do other things lining CA's pockets? California - the Socialist Workers Paradise!

Nothing is simple.  Hospitals charge too much because of write-offs from those who don't pay at all.  Insurance companies charge doctors a lot for malpractice insurance because even the slightest mistake on a complex procedure can get you sued for millions.  Doctors practice defensive medicine and order every test in the book and lots of consults so they don't get sued.  People don't take care of themselves.  They want to eat pizza and beer 7 days a week and then be prescribed a pill to fix all the bad outcomes.  Drug companies charge the US more than the rest of the world because they bought Congress a long time ago.  Things are the way they are because a lot of people are making a lot of money the way things are.  Big money's got a mean streak. Big money's got no soul.

But pizza and beer are awesome

Uh... isn't that exactly what we have now? I mean the option is bankruptcy but it is still health care

Imagine if Wyoming charged tariff on every semi going to and from California ports and on every watt of electricity we send there, be it by wire or by BTU of coal, natural gas, or uranium.

We'd be richer than Saudi Arabia!

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

What would we ever do without Kalifornia?

The Plastics of Hollywood agency boasts the fakest people on the planet who have spent over $3 million between them on surgery

Is the rack on the left nearest the camera NSFW or not?  No wonder so many are confused.
