4 star Parker Stewart requested his release from Ole Miss.

Nebraska was his other top 3 school.

Will Parker join our other 4 star guys taking the floor next year?

I forgot about him considering Wyoming.  Allen Edwards is proof that good recruiting is attainable virtually regardless of location.

Agreed. With Liebermans transfer, we have 2 walk-ons running the point. A 4 star (espn) 6'5" point to go with what we already have joining in 2017 and the transfers we have sitting out would probably push our class into the top 50 nationally.

Sdsu might be f'd without Fishes recruiting ability, but other teams are really starting to pick it up.

San Diego State will recruit better if they establish more of an offensive identity.  Elite players won't go there because they aren't being developed on the offensive end.  Look at Kawhi Leonard.  He had about one tenth of the offensive game at San Diego State that he does now.

Still, they'll never find a recruiter as good as Fish. You can't make up for the loss of the guy that landed the Fab Five. He's a recruiting legend. Go look at the recruiting thread on Aztecmesa. They've swung and missed on about a dozen big men since Fish left.

Their recruiting will be fine once they get better on offense.  San Diego is an easy place to recruit to.

If it was easy than someone other than Steve Fisher would have won an NCAA tournament game at SDSU.

He's the only coach to ever win there.

Yes, it's easier to recruit to the facilities Brandenburg built for them and Fisher continued to build.

Still, Brandy had a dominant conference team in Laramie, and couldn't get it done in San Diego.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens to SDSU post-Fish. He left the program in a much MUCH better position than when he arrived, but I tend to agree with you that it will be tough to replace Fish.

San Diego State is fine now.  They have an infrastructure in place.

Crazy coincidence or not a coincidence at all remains to be seen. Wyoming's original official recruiting visit for the class of 2017 was Hunter Thompson, Trevin Knell, Parker Stewart and Samuta Avea.

Hawaii got one hell of an athlete when Samuta committed to Hawaii.

Hunter committed to Creighton, decommitted to walk-on at Wyoming, and was rewarded with a scholarship in Laramie.

Parker Stewart asked for his release from Ole Miss.

Now, Trevin Knell just decommitted from Cal. He has a visit scheduled at BYU already. He did visit Wyoming though.

Here's the picture of our first official 2017 visit.

Knell and Stewart are back on the board.

If Wyoming can attract four star players, then the rest of the conference (sans Air Force) needs to stop with the excuses.

Let's be fair here. Wyoming has gotten one 4**** high school kid and it was a local product. Getting a former 4**** washout from another school doesn't count. Also, having 4**** kids on the radar doesn't really count either. As far as I can tell, I don't see anything that would suggest that Stewart is even considering Wyoming outside of the fact that they were on him almost a year ago and he didn't choose them. So, you're giving them quite a lot of credit for convincing a local kid to stay home. Not that they aren't recruiting pretty well, but sorry for throwing cold water on your 4**** hard-on.

Wyoming has a four star that left SDSU and ended up in Laramie. He was a top 100 recruit out of high school. Buddha Jones is only a sophomore.

We have a four star in state kid that decided to walk-on and ended up getting rewarded with a scholarship: Hunter Thompson.

Anthony Mack, is a very highly rated three star, recruited and offered by the team that was the defending national champion in Villanova. Some recruiting experts we're saying he should have been a 4 star prospect.

Since Allen Edwards took over we've got commitments from the following guys:

1. Louis Adams. He had an offer from Memphis and proved last year that he's a very capable MWC player.

2. 4 star Buddha Jones.

3. 4 star Hunter Thompson.

4. Borderline 4 star Anthony Mack.

5. Hunter Maldonado, Colorado 5a player of the year candidate, and probably the most under rated player in high school basketball.

Hey Boise fan, your team has to win an NCAA tournament game before you're allowed to post on threads of real college basketball programs.

Bruh. Really!?!

Louis Adams average 7.5 ppg while playing 15 mpg and shooting 27% from 3.  He had more turnovers than assists. And he was a JUNIOR.

Buddha Jones was rated as a four star player by Rivals, but a 3 star by ESPN and Scout.  More importantly, he saw the floor in half of UTEP's games an complied a meager 8.6 minutes and 1.3 ppg.  Oh, and had more turnovers than assists.

Hunter Thompson is a four star by ESPN, but Scout, Rivals, and 247 all have him as a three star.

Hunter Maldonado is a two star across the board.

These are not the kind of recruits you brag about.  These are the kinds of recruits that will keep you on par with middle of the pack schools in the MWC and, if things break right, maybe you have a break out year every now and then.

Time will tell, but Wyoming's 2017 recruiting class of Buddha Jones, Hunter Thompson, Anthony Mack, Hunter Maldonado, Austin Mueller, and Ny Redding is better than any other MW school not named UNLV or Nevada. We'll find out if it's better than UNLV or Nevada.

Despite Junky's homerism, he said Maldonado is extremely underrated. He wasn't bragging about his ranking.

And most guys who have seen him play agree with that. He went head to head with 4 star and top prospect in CO Dshawn Shwartz and completely owned him on both sides of the court.

Wait, so how can it not be better than UNLV and Nevada, but we are going to wait and see if it is better?

Fair enough. Recruiting services definitely miss, but most of the time if you are counting on a two-start kid to take your program to new heights you will end up falling flat.

Maldonado may turn out to be a very good player but for the life of me I have no idea where you have come up with the Colorado 5A Player of the Year tag.  He wasnt even 1st team on the Denver Post or CHSAA 5A teams.  He was 2nd Team CHSAA and didnt even earn Honorable Mention honors in the Denver Post.

What am I missing?
