Boise lands Fordham SR transfer

Recommended Posts

Christian Sengfelder has committed to play at Boise State. He'll be available to play immediately. He looks like a less soft Duncan clone. 6' 7" 240# euro who was 2nd on the team in scoring (12 ppg) and 1st in rebounds (5 rpg). He does most of his scoring from behind the arc.

Another flopper expert, good pick up.

Heard the Fordham radio guy a minute ago talking about him.  He's been a starter since he was freshman in the A10 and is more prototypical Euro (back to the basket is a strength, using the backboard from odd angles, etc) but was asked to take more 3's in the style of game Fordham was playing.   Not sure 3's are his strongest suit at all, but he adapted to become a good 3 shooter.

So maybe more a typical PF than Duncan.  Less stretch, more athleticism.   Fordham fans are not happy he's leaving either.

Have to hold off judging this class until we see them play.  Not happy that Leon can't seem to find the missing pieces to compete with Nevada, San Diego, etc on an athletic basis.

Yeah, you can see his game slowly morphed from the time he got there. He was always a capable 3pt shooter, but he went from shooting 60/40 2pt to 3pt shots his FR year to 35/65 last year. He definitely looks like a more all around offensive threat than was Duncan and he is a better rebounder. Fordham fans are pissed he would leave there to come to Boise. They seem to think that he would end up in the B1G.

The more I read about him the more I like him. He actually has a pretty diverse offensive game and has been either 1st or 2nd on the team in rebounding all three years he was there. Initially I was hoping he would be a contributor, but I'm more convinced that he could start immediately. Leon likes his foreign players as well as his SRs. He put up solid numbers and he did it in a league that has been ranked quite a bit higher than the MW all three years he was there. Very solid and very Leon type pick up. While not overly athletic is is more athletic than Duncan. Between him and Casdon Jardine, Boise should be quite a bit stronger at the 4 spot this next year.

Looks like he had a lot of transfer options. It came down to Creighton, Maryland, Wake Forest, and Boise State. Northwestern was also in the mix. He started all 93 games at Fordham and averaged double figures every year.

You can't argue with the level of interest in him.

Yeah, I think he is a day one starter. I don't envision him being an All Conference type guy, but a really solid contributor. He looks like a more dynamic player than Duncan. He scores in a lot more ways and is a better rebounder. Also adds another guy who can shoot from the outside.
