Colorado State 2018 Recruiting

Recommended Posts

After hosting about three dozen kids over the past couple weekends, CSU is finally on the board with their first commit:

Nick Morman, 3-star DB from Covington, LA. Reported offers from Kansas and LA-Monroe. http://www.hudl.com/profile/4164127/nicholas-martin-morman

No word yet if he'll be on-campus in 2018 or if he'll be going on a mission.

Another recruiting tidbit but technically part of the 2017 class: CSU confirmed that 3-star Mountian Vista (Highlands Ranch, CO) QB Judd Erickson will be walking on at CSU. I mention this because Erickson's commitment as a PWO makes him CSU's highest ranked commit per 24/7 composite and the highest rated QB recruit in the Mountain West, proving once and for all that star rankings are for entertainment purposes only. http://www.hudl.com/profile/3814712/judd-erickson

CSU received their second commit in LB Zach Schlager out of McCook, Nebraska. He's the younger brother of current Ram safety Jake Schlager. This really wasn't much of a surprise with the family connection and his other offers weren't that great.

CSU picks up another for the 2017 class.

WR Tyler Smith (4-star Scout and ESPN, 3-star 247 and Rivals) was committed to North Carolina and had offers from Auburn, Georgia, and NC State. He blew out his knee his senior year and it seems like UNC tried to squeeze him into their 2018 by making him go to a prep school. Smith decommitted last week and is now a Ram.

Interestingly enough, Smith's knee injury opened the door for his teammate EJ Scott to be the primary target in the offense and he ended up signing with CSU.

Heard about this kid a couple days ago. What a great get this late in the year for Bobo, hope he heals up quick.

Or he takes a RS year to fully heal, and Hill is tossing it to him and Williams for a couple of years.  That's almost a scary thought based on what I've seen of Hill and Williams.

Agree.  Meant to say I hope he has a speedy recovery.

That's a huge pick up. If he ends up signing, he'll likely be one of the best recruits in the conference.

There is no question in my mind that Bobo is a top recruiter.

The question is how long will it take for him to learn to be a top HC, and will he get there.  Hopefully, this is the year he turns that corner.  A lot of that though is how long will it take Coach Friend to live up to expectations as an OC so Bobo can be freed up from some of that.  I do know that Bobo sat in on every defensive meeting this spring, so he's clearly learning to take that overall role instead of working with the O and leaving the D up to the DC.

CSU picked up two more over the last week or so.

WR A'Jon Vivens- 2-star from Mullen (Denver) HS. All-Colorado as a junior. I've actually seen him play quite a bit, he's never going to be your WR1 but he's a nice guy to put in the slot. Good blocker too. Had offers from Air Force and Northern Colorado. He's our third Mullen commit in the last two years.

LS Ross Reiter- 2-star out of Arizona. Second best long snapper in the nation according to those special teams experts. Was getting a decent amount of P5 interest, but CSU was the only school to offer him a full ride out of high school. Our current longsnapper is a senior. Bobo signed the top Punter in '17 and now has the second ranked long snapper in '18.

Just lost Jayden McDonald- a high priority LB recruit out of Miami- to +++++ing Rutgers. Jesus christ, I hate college athletics.

Enamored with the thought of going 0-9 in the Big Ten.
