CS Bakersfield at CSU

Which CSU didn't defend well at all.  CSU rarely got past the 20 second mark on the shot clock before forcing a shot.  They also had no defensive answer for Bakersfield's offense besides trying to outscore them.  No cohesiveness, no discipline.  Just balls to the wall streetball.  You can't win a tournament game like that.  CSU won this year on emotion and effort (and a red hot Gian Clavell).  That left them high and dry more than once, and tonight was an example of not bringing the emotion and effort.

Tough loss Rams. That first half had to be a little deflating watching Bakersfield drain threes with their eyes closed. They might have actually been a pretty fun team to watch this year.

Only in the 1st half, they cooled off in the second.  But CSU never made a run.

Some of that is the frantic style Barnes teams play defense, and they didn't get in foul trouble tonight like they often do.  The Rams were out of rthymm and cold.  Plus, CSUB is playing like it's a NCAA tournament game, the Rams seemed like it was just an ooc game.

I love Barnes man, love his country awshucks shtick.  Likable coach.

Two things of note:

1. CSU missed the National Anthem.  I'm sure our coach has a great excuse why that happened.

2. CSUs guards combined for 0 assists on the night. The team had 5.  Center Nico Carvacho had three of them.

Bakersfield came to Fort Collins and ate our children.

This is a fact.  We looked disinterested and not ready to play.  That's a very disappointing end to a season that was pretty remarkable otherwise.

That's three things of note, IMO.
