If they're willing to pony up 2 to 3 million they'd better go after some big fish. Targeting lesser proven commodities like Muss and Rice defeats the purpose of having a war chest like that.

$2M just gets you in the game, not "big fish".

A year ago 24 of the 35 P5 teams in the NCAA tourney had coaches making over $2M.

Do you think Wojcik from SJSU would immediately be the top candidate for Boise St if Rice leaves?

San Diego St has been spoiled, not having to shop for a BB coach since 1999.  When Fisher leaves they will see what the rest of the conference has been dealing with in increasing despair... that is become tougher and tougher to attract proven coaches to the MWC.... being a one-bid league that pays less than half what lower tier PAC-12 pay makes it a tough sell.  Elevating an assistant is the recent approach, but you see how that's working at Utah St, Wyoming, and UNM.  UNLV tried to do the "nation search"  of big names but that became a humbling experience.

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Absolutely yes

He was a very popular asst coach

And $3 million gets you scratching the top ten.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Just like Pitino?

had pitino been cut loose, he would have been at unlv and that deficit would be history. but once their prez realized that if anybody was going to be cut loose that it would be he himself, he decided pitino might not be so bad, lol.

(and yes, he and his reps were in vegas as soon as the reg season ended, salary would have been compliments of his good friend, steve wynn.)

and sometimes you have to spend money to make money. the pack will find that out with muss, very soon. look at how much money he has already brought to your program, and if the pack ponies up and pays him a good salary, the university will get it back, tenfold.

One day, money will not be an obstacle for UNLV, and they won't have to rely on boosters.  We will be playing in an NFL stadium, have a good football facility and program, a medical school, tier one status, and have membership in the PAC-12.

What color is the sky in your world?

Way to stay on topic.  Aren't we talking about the UW job?

Miami does. USC does. UCLA does.

That's probably the exceptions to the rule though, by and large.

That said, UW fans don't seem very warm to Muss or Rice. They're a bit delusional, but still, I would expect someone other than those two there.

Incorrect. Miami does. Tell me what  NFL team shared the Rose Bowl and the  Coliseum over the last 10+ years?

I wasn't aware the Rose Bowl was in Westwood or that the UCLA campus was in Pasadena. UCLA doesn't own the stadium either.

And the Rams play in the Coliseum. They used to play there too. So did the Dodgers. So did the Bruins until the early 80s. And SC doesn't own it.

So, no, they aren't their own stadiums.

Who said anything about owning it? USC has played in The Coliseum since it's existence (long before the NFL) and  UCLA moved into the Rose  Bowl  built on the strength of  their football program.

The idea that just playing in  an NFL stadium makes  a dominant  college program is both ignorant and comical.

You sad "...someone else's stadium."  Why does this require an NFL team?  In the case of the Coliseum the someone else is LA Co.  The Rose Bowl's someone else is the Tournament of Roses.   Weren't you all talking about CSU-San Diego's proposed new stadium, which we eventually be owned by the school & shared w/a MSL soccer franchise?

You did.  You wrote they play in "...someone else's stadium."

'SC & UCLA shared the Colosseum for longer than UCLA has played in the Rose Bowl.

CSU-San Diego will eventual own the new stadium.
