I voted Reno because I would attend the tourney of course if it was there, but the tourney should stay in Vegas IMO

Isn't the MW getting away from allowing the last place teams to participate. With Unlv on the downward slide will that hurt attendance in years to come.  Making the tournament will be tough for them.  Maybe it should be moved.  They are best when folks show up

Good topic... and its really a tough question to find a good answer.  Vegas is an obvious choice for many reason, reasonable airfare, lots to do, made for tourists, etc., etc.  The drawback is obvious too, playing on UNLV's home court every year w/ so much on the line.

I was a big fan of the old WAC's tourney rotation where they would award the conference tourney to the winner of the previous season's regular season championship.  It kind of worked out well because the hosting team was more than likely going to be in contention for the NCAA tourney and the local fans would have even more to be geeked up about at the end of the season. If you were a team in the hunt that didn't have home court, it gave even more incentive to go to places that you probably would never travel to also.  I remember tourney's in Provo, El Paso, Abq, Laramie, and Ft. Collins, and they were all pretty awesome events with really good crowds.

The one thing I'd never be in favor of is having the tourney in a non-MWC town.  That makes ZERO sense.  It didn't work in Denver, and it certainly wouldn't work in SLC, Phoenix, or LA.

I'd definitely go to the MWC tournament if it were held in San Diego because I live there. Can't beat the convenience of having it in your own backyard. UNLV fans have it made. I'm not into gambling, so when I went to Vegas last year I focused on Hoops and went to both the MWC and Pac 12 tourneys.

That's the thing.  There is so much to do in Vegas.  I watched the Wed./Thurs. of the MWT last year.  Took Friday off then went to the PAC-12 Championship on Saturday.  Even if you are not into gambling or nightlife, the basketball that is in town that weekend is awesome.  If you're a real bball junkie, you can also catch the WAC Championship at the Orleans after the PAC-12 champ.  I've known guys that have gone from the MWT Championship to the PAC-12 to the WAC.  Three conference championships in one day.  Not to mention the ability to bet on the games.  I went to Denver for all three years of the MWT when it was there.  I had fun, but it doesn't come close to what Vegas provides that weekend.  Hell, you could just spend an entire day in a sportsbook watching conference tourneys for around the nation.

Funny how people are surprised by weather. Same folks that didn't hear the train...

I went to Laramie for the conference championship, so cold weather does not bother me, but it might for the fans from California.

I do no like Salt Lake City, lived there, done that, but not again. It does not come close to Vegas, San Diego, Phoenix, as a place to hold the the championship.

Only thing those cities have in common- weather. And, possibly, no one in those cities broke your heart or beat you up...

Those cities have a lot more going on than just weather, as far as conference championships go. Never got beat up in SLC.

You like SLC good for you. I do not like it at all.

I need to warn everyone, Alcohol in Utah is against the law.  Utah is a "dry State".   The Ute fans that act drunk all the time are putting on an act.  They've never actually seen or consumed booze before.

I drink this Utah beer now & then

Yes, yes, yes!

I've gone to every single men's MW tournament game the last several years and bet on every one.  It's been tons of fun and I'm happy to say "I'm up".  Go Vegas!

The basketball angle's hard to argue with- it's like a college basketball junkie's Nirvana.

As far as the betting angle, I can place a bet on my Android from anywhere in the U.S....

And there's the whole problem with Utah in a nutshell- "apostolic" Prohibitionist missionaries...

Those darn Mormons, who settled Utah.  Who do they think they are...

Maybe the enlightened population will move to a nicer place to live, with more freethinkers, like Wyoming, or some place.

There is a reason that four conferences hold their tournaments in Las Vegas.

For The MW there is at least one more important reason and that's T&M and LV deep discounts to conference teams that do not have very deep pockets.

If UNLV gets good again and we continue to be a one bid league, then maybe I'd personally consider...maybe PHX.

UNLV 'home court' has never been an issue for me.

Viva Las Vegas.

Also...

why not ABQ??

We got flaminco, red and green chile, blue meth and

The Pit is pretty much a neutral court of late.

Also March winds and blowing dust.

I would actually love to have the tournament in ABQ when the Lobos are strong.  I think it would be an amazing atmosphere.
