Oliver in foul trouble? Statline just looks like he hasn't played as much as usual

He sat the first few minutes for a violation of team rules.

Too bad that's a picture of Caroline.

The guy that does these might be a knucklehead. This ain't the first time these Reno post game picture/ads have been weird.

In Reno, the Falcons lost to a UNR team that is on top of the MWC and has now won 9 in a row at home.  The Falcons showed desire and effort that have set them apart from many other AF teams in the past but it was not enough for the win.  The Falcons stepped on to the court and, as they unfortunately often do, started colder than an iceberg in the Baltic Sea.  The opening sequence for AF? Missed 3; Turnover; Missed layup; Missed Jumper; Made Layup; Missed 3; Turnover = AF 2 UNR 10.  The Falcons find their groove, battle back at 5mins remaining in the first half to a three point game 27-30 but THEN are outscored 12-0  to go into the locker room 27-42.  But the Falcons showed what they are made of in the second half.  Starting hot, UNR jumps to a 17pt lead but behind aggressive play on both end of the court AF ties the game with 8 minutes remaining and stay with UNR but not being able to finish at the final buzzer.  Credit hot shooting by UNR's Marshall down the stretch with 2 back-to-back threes which finished the Falcons.  Free throws in the final 3 minutes kept AF in the game but while the Falcons made 4 layups in the last three minutes they missed 5 3-pt attempts.  Whew....got to get the ball into the hoop in crunch time!

Got to give great credit to this team for their effort and drive and 'not quitting' for 40 minutes of play on the road and against the #1 team.  Refs were horrible with UNR only being called for 4 fouls in the entire first half while the Falcons were whistled time and time again.  The Falcons led in rebounding and points in the paint and shot well (43% FG and 90% FT), but 18 turnovers (13 in the first half) were the difference in the early momentum for UNR.  Scroll down to the bottom for postgame stats and box score. AF was led by Jacob Van with 17pts (did not shoot that well 4-13 but was 8-8 FT mostly down the stretch); Double-double for Frank Toohey 15pts/5-6/2-2FT/1-2 3pt/11reb) and Manning 15pts (great job by Ryan off the bench).

Tough loss and no loss is a good loss, but a lot to grow from with 12 more MWC games to play.  The road uphill continues on Saturday at UNLV who lost Friday night and is tied with AF at 2-4 in the MWC.  The matchup:

Nevada got lazy and were out-worked by the Flyboys in the 2nds half.

I don't know why they do that....lazy?

The Lawlor crowd is slowly re-learning to make more noise.

We're wimps compared to the  Eastern/Midwest  coast  home courts.

Used to play lacrosse against the damn zoomies. Getting out worked, out run in the second half was unfortunately a common occurrence. Them fit m-fers din't drink, didn't smoke, hardly seemed fair.
