I think there are more $$ out there held by real Football fans looking for a team to cheer for than there are $$ out there with gang bangers and thugs looking for a team to cheer for. Most of those types don't actually end up being very loyal or committed fans. They buy or steal the jersey and the hat, but that is about it... That's right. Raider gear has always been cool with thugs in the urban black community. Most of them aren't ever going to pay to see a game, it's more of a fashion statement thing. Nevada Convert
The Raiders can pretty much out-price the game tickets for the poorer thugs. You have 8 home games, and they should easily sell out. High prices for Raiders games will actually be a good thing to improve the stadium game experience. In contrast when they were in LA, there were so many street punks in the cheap seats, it was ridiculous. Opposing team fans quickly discovered that they didn't want to go with the cheapest seats unless they liked to be assaulted, have food and beer thrown on them, getting beaned hard with pennies, etc.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm usually a cheap kinda guy. What you're saying does make sense though. Quote All is well, For Rice is gone.

Even back in the early 90's when I was going to school and driving a big Crown school bus for San Diego Unified, it was everywhere in the dangerous neighborhoods including around MLK. Some kids would get their Raiders jackets forcefully taken from them from street thugs.

Well that's the Bay Area and the 49ers for you. But I also think you don't realize how expensive it'll be to get any Raider ticket in Vegas with only 8 games a season. Before long, or even right away, the place will turn into Bronco Stadium with every seat in the joint being a sold out season ticket. I know they've come out and said they would expect 45k season tickets to start, but that's more about lowering expectations. At some point the only tickets for sale will be on Stub Hub, and those will be sky high. The casinos will be huge buyers of season tickets and they'll use them in expensive trip packages and give-aways. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. But Davis is going to make insane money.

TheDoggFather
More $hit goes down at Niner games now that Raiders games. It's all just an excuse to get drunk and cause mayhem these days. Screw NFL games.
NWRebel
With the NFL vote coming next week it's time to stir this topic up. A good chance that a vote will take place next week as the Raiders have made it know that their option to purchase the stadium site runs out soon. If true the move will cost the Raiders $350 million unlike the Chargers having to fork over $650 million to share a stadium. This quote from the NFL website is also encouraging. "Expect UNLV to have a significant presence on the new stadium, as opposed to simply being someone who plays games there. That means signage and other amenities to show the Runnin' Rebs are partners. In addition, expect a developer to be announced this week for around the stadium, one who has experience working with UNLV." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000794589/article/raiders-closing-in-on-potential-move-to-las-vegas
Guest RoscoesDad
So after looking at the lease terms the Raiders prez submitted awhile back, i am already pissed. They want our 750MM in tax dollars and to +++++ over unlv with the field and rights to approve or deny home games? Not happening. I sincerely hope that was a mistake. As far as i am.concerned this is as much unlv's stadium as it is theirs.

Not that I care about Adelson. To have UNLV signage on the new stadium will be awesome. And, I hope we get a lot more out of this.

Our city council needs to stand strong on this issue. We are co-tenants. I think guys like sisolak and beers will be up.for the fight. And why would the raiders want to press fhe issue and make enemies before they play a game here?
4UNLV
i read somewhere in the last week or so that unlv would be a 'partner' in the stadium, and that the raiders were fully on board with working with the rebs. i'll see if i can find it in a few.. In either case it won't even be up to them once the NFL gives the approval. The new governing body will be the Stadium Authority. The new Authority will have representatives from UNLV as well as the County Commission to name a few. And, I agree we need to stand strong and if we have to we need to pressure the new Stadium Authority to make sure our needs are met.
