Mark Davis is playing with fire if he thinks he could do business in Las Vegas and crossing Sheldon Adelson.  I've read the other casino owners are afraid of him.

Screw Adelson........the guy might not live to see the stadium construction finished much less Raider games - Time is not on Adelson's side

I was pre-Med at Idaho, but anyone with eyes knows Adelson shouldn't be buying season tickets beyond 1 year at a time contracts

He looks better than Al Davis before he passed.

Clark County needs to build a bigger jail for Raider games.

If they're smart they'll build a jail and court room under the stadium like in Philly.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 1998, the Eagles installed a court and jail under the Veteran's Stadium run by Judge Seamus McCaffery. The fans had been so unruly that the team decided to arrest, imprison and try their fans under the stadium.

Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles, opened its doors in 2003. Affectionately referred to as “The Linc,” the Eagles played their first regular season on September 8, 2003 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Linc's capacity is 68,532 and can add another 612 fans with standing room-only seats. When it opened, the stadium contained a jail, much like the Eagles’ old home, Veterans Stadium.

I hate to see any team leave their city, and I agree with you that it sounds like a done deal. Ian Rapoport is a very reliable source.

Except Seattle. If they could somehow lose a pro franchise, that they don't actually care about, every year, I would find that entertaining as hell.

Man I felt horrible how badly Seattle was screwed over by David Stern (and Shultiz, the WA gov and the OKC owner). Then the '12's happened, perhaps the most obnoxious bandwagon fan base in the history of pro sports.  After 6 or so years of their act, I am now  happy that they lost the Sonics.  I love screwing with those 12s by asking them questions about old Seahawks teams.  Very few can name their allpro safety from UCLA that died early from over perscription of acetaminophen (Kenny Easley)  Most think that Curt Warner was a great QB for them (this is my favorite).  Barely anyone knows who that left handed QB was (Dave Kreig) or who that 6'9 QB from SDSU is (Dan McGwire).  Worst.  Fans.  Ever.

well i'm 30 and i went to my first game when i was like 8 so i guess you can do the math

raider lifer since birth and i wasn't around during the "team of the decades" era so i certainly know the true meaning of heartbreak and despair

are you trying to say something? i got nothing against the classic looks like green bay and pittsburgh but, imo (and it's a biased one), the raiders have the best logo/colors/look/aura package in all of american sports. the shield is classic, there's a reason all those 100+ year old football clubs in europe have a shield. these new bronco/pats/panthers/jags create-a-logo look are trash.

If all you were saying was the Raiders shouldn't change their brand, I agree. However, if you were also attempting to argue that Raiders fans are the same as every other fan base, you're very uninformed.

I'll give another example. In a game Mrs. SGF and I attended in about 1990, our seats were next to a couple we hadn't previously sat by. It was a hot day in L.A. so I had a couple 22 oz. beers, which was the only size sold at the Coliseum. As my wife and I spoke with the other couple because the game was boring, the guy was pounding down brews like Prohibition was coming the next day. Toward the end of halftime, the wives went to use the restroom and visit the snack bar again. While they were away, the guy I was speaking with said "excuse me" then tilted his head downward toward the unoccupied seat in front of him and puked. Fortunately nobody was sitting there that day because half of the vomit landed on the seat. Then the guy took another swallow of his beer and finished whatever point he had been making as if that was just natural behavior.

I've lived in or near every major city in California and attended hundreds of sporting events but never seen a fan base as uncouth as the Raiders have and I've seen them play in Oakland, Los Angeles and San Diego. I'll admit I haven't seen them since they left L.A. in '94 or whenever it was but somehow, I doubt things have changed.

Boom goes the dynamite.

As a season ticket holder the new stadium will be a lot shorter drive to the games for me.  :cheer:

i don't think it's going to affect mine by much. :D maybe a couple of (or 10) miles if the spaghetti bowl is finished sometime in the next decade, lol.

I think Davis will be disappointed with the PSL sales.  That's where the owners make their money.  Why would the casino bigshots buy them?  I question whether Las Vegas has enough monied people to purchase them.  Tickets yes, but not PSLs.

i have heard they're buying these to be used as comps to get their big money people into town. and it's not just the casinos, i even heard an interview last spring on the sports radio here with a guy from Sapphire, the guy said he has 70 'hosts' (and that's hosts, not the girls) that bring people in, especially for big events. they'll buy the seat licenses (as they have done for NHL) and then give away the individual tickets. an NFL game in vegas? one of the best reasons to get $$$ into town. and many of them won't be raider fans.

but i guess we'll all find out.

They all want out of Oakland, and I don't blame them? Raiders to Las Vegas, the Warriors are going back to San Francisco next season, and the A's have been trying to move to San Jose for the better part of a decade. The only thing stopping them is the SF Giants claiming the South Bay as their territory. If I owned a pro sports team I'd want out of Oakland too!

"hey, you're taking us with you, right?  right???"

Is this good or bad for UNLV? Haven't really followed this situation, but is it the oposite of the Chargers saga for you guys? How will this affect fan base with 2 new pro franchises?

I would like for the Raiders to do a complete rebranding upon coming to Las Vegas (new team name, colors, etc.), but I know that's not going to happen.

Why? The Raiders are outlaws, Vegas is an outlaw city, if there was ever a match made in football heaven it would be Vegas and the Raiders.

I think you guys are missing an important part- the tv market.

The NFL is all about sustaining and growing the brand.

Oakland is number 6 in market and Vegas is 40.

Vegas won't have the die hard Black hole folks nor will they have the viewership of millions of Raider faithful.

"The brand" will take a hit if they move to Vegas.

Raiders being in LV or not, probably doesn't move the TV needle for the LV market..........this is a football market with people following all the teams & the Raiders being local as opposed to Oakland won't change the NFL TV viewership in the LV market & the betting aspect brings casual fans to the TV where in other markets they wouldn't care.

Doubters point out that it’s the 40th largest television market in the country, according to Neilsen, a steep drop off from the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose region, which is the sixth largest. Ordinarily, that would be a significant concern, especially with NFL ratings showing declines this year.

But it ignores the fact that Las Vegas is one of the best football viewing markets in the country, consistently ranking in the top ten for prime time telecasts. Armed with a team of their own, viewership in the area would become even stronger.

Moreover, the Raiders consistently rank near the bottom of the league in local television ratings, due in part to the fact that it shares the Bay Area with the more popular San Francisco Forty Niners. So even though there are far fewer people in Las Vegas, the number of eyeballs fixed to Raiders games could actually go up.

The “Awful Bowl,” a 6-6 overtime tie between the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals  drew a 11.6 overnight rating . That’s down 14.7 % versus the 13.6 overnight for the week 7 Sunday Night Football matchup in 2015 (Eagles-Panthers), but that’s a big improvement versus last week’s 9.0 overnight for the Colts-Texans matchup that was down 38% verus the 2015 week 6 contest.

Top local markets via NBC Sports PR:

Seattle 47.9/67
Phoenix 31.7/49
Portland 24.5/38
Albuquerque 17.6/28
Las Vegas 17.2/26
New Orleans 15.8/22
Denver 15.6/28
Richmond & Sacramento 15.1/24
Norfolk 14.7/23

We'll see. The Raiders are Oakland. Black Hole (section 158 I believe) is made for tv.

That wont happen in Vegas. That type of loyalty.

Not a Raiders fan but in a weird way I applaud and appreciate the fans who stick by a team playing in a shit stadium. Whos team has left them before.

I think if they move again it's the death knell for the fans.

Raiders will have to hope they can rebrand.

Not sure the NFL owners will be on board.

Vegas should have gotten an expansion team instead.
