NorthWestCowboy
With the news of pending Big XII expansion what ripple effects does this have for the PAC-12, MWC and AAC? Other threads have discussed which MWC and AAC schools we think will get a Big XII invite but who do the MWC and AAC backfill with if schools leave? No BoR conference posts here please as I'm just curious who y'all think could move into the MWC and AAC. PAC-12 With the news of pending Big XII expansion does this pressure the PAC-12 to reevaluate expansion as well? Are the PAC-12 AD's thinking tonight if they ever want to expand to 14 teams perhaps they should soon and before the Big XII or risk even less attractive expansion choices? MWC Who are the legitimate backfill schools if the MWC losses 1-2 schools to Big XII expansion? AAC Who are the legitimate backfill schools if the AAC losses 1-2 schools to Big XII expansion? MAD MACGYVER
I doubt the PAC12 even flinches at this. MWC: UTEP and Rice should 2 teams leave. Does the MWC go after AAC teams if 2+ teams leave the AAC? AAC: A choice of NIU, Army, Marshall, USM, or ODU. Maybe they get ballsy and offer full memberships to some MWC schools. I'm curious if the Big 12 expands by 4 and the resulting MWC/AAC actions catalyze a Division 1 split as the best teams will have been consolidated about as well as they can be. 망치를 가진 남자에게는, 모든것이 못처럼 보인다. 원숭이도 나무에서 떨어진다. If the Big XII expands by 4 schools I'd be in favor of the following: As long as there is a G5 access bowl our highest ranked team can go play in that and we'll all wish them good luck. As for the remaining G5 schools I say we have a playoff and crown our own champion. Heck at this point while not official there already is a pseudo division split between P5 and G5. Outside of the top ones most bowl games hold little interest for me. I'd rather have a G5 playoff.

I was operating under the assumption that the D1 split would be about 100 schools, P5, the MWC, AAC, ND, and perhaps Big East for basketball. Thus cutting out CUSA, SBC, and MAC. If the P5 were to split, I would imagine that the best FCS conferences and the remaining G5 conferences would create a new D1AA 망치를 가진 남자에게는, 모든것이 못처럼 보인다. 원숭이도 나무에서 떨어진다. I would think the MWC would be in a stronger position to proposition AAC schools for membership than the other way around. But I could see Aresco being more proactive than Thompson. 망치를 가진 남자에게는, 모든것이 못처럼 보인다. 원숭이도 나무에서 떨어진다.

The way our current AD and President handled the basketball coach hire I'm not feeling optimistic about pursing anything bigger.

So many moving parts there I doubt it'd ever happen. I don't think the P5 schools care what conference their G5 opponents come from or how many FBS schools there are. With all the SEC schools still scheduling FCS opponents I doubt they'd be in favor of dumping the lesser G5 conferences. Eventually all the P5 conferences will ban playing FCS schools so they'll need plenty of FBS schools to schedule that aren't that tough.
TheLostSock
Granted its one maybe two seasons of the mwc being a bit down, but that's bad timing for such an event if you're the mwc. But then the aac would be down two schools. Tough call.

Inept as they may be, all the ad and prez have to do is answer a phone and coordinate breathing if someone calls offering money.
SLCPoke
I don't see them reaching as far as Boise to bring in an additional team- I think they take Memphis and Cinci, and split into East/West Divisions. Houston makes the most geographical sense but I don't think they dip anymore into the Texas markets. I also think they set up a similar graduation plan into the Big12 revenue stream, similar to Utah entering the PAC-12. Big 12 East: Cinci, Memphis, West Virginia, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State Big 12 West: Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Texas If I'm the AAC I take NIU and I take Toledo. Football is the key in everything and these are two teams that are perennial 8-10 win season teams Then the MAC adds.....who cares?

1066
RESULTS OF B12 EXPANSION ON THE G5 B12 expansion by 2 teams. G5 Universities to the B12 likelihood in percentage. BYU perhaps 60 to 70% Cincinnati perhaps 70 to 80% UConn perhaps 70% UCF OR USF perhaps 70 to 80% Memphis perhaps 70% CSU perhaps 10% Houston 0% (because of UT opposition) If 2 teams go from the AAC that conference will attempt to take teams from us. I expect they will fail. If BYU and 1 school from the AAC there will be minimum movement. ================================================================= B12 expansion by 4 teams Odds are the same as above except BYU perhaps 80% Cincinnati 90% Memphis 80% CSU 14% If Houston is not chosen and they will not be then Hair MUST find a way to bring them into the MWC perhaps with SMU or UTSA. If 3 or 4 schools go from the AAC then we MUST grab Houston and one other Texas University. AAC will attempt to take 4 universities from the MWC or CUSA. It will only work if ESPN gives them a nice raise. That will not happen. Result MWC will be king of the midgets. The prime conference in the G5. A dubious honor but better than our current status. Of course a BOR conference would still be an improvement but we and the others are too cowardly to try it.

I just don't see it, but if there is a real rhyme or reason to the collective thinking of conference presidents, they are the only ones aware of it. fbpack
After they raid the ACC we should invite UCF an Houston to join the MWC or Houston and Memphis MWC would be so legit if we could nab Houston an Memphis

BYU will not change their stance on Sunday sports. Aside from that- I think they go East and it makes no sense to add one Mountain Time Zone and one Eastern Time Zone. This also helps out West Virginia and expands into a larger population of eyeballs.
4UNLV
i think the pac 12 might wait 20 minutes for the big 12 to make texas and OU mad, possibly by 'football only' adds and/or byu (there's only room for one princess) and then add them. or they don't. Since the Big 12 said they will entertain the idea of football only members, and they said they are open to adding four members if it suits their purposes why not add two west and two east schools if they are the biggest brands? Also, is the Big 12 swayed by individual markets now that a traditional TV network is off the table or are they more interested in what will bring in national eyeballs since they will likely go the ACC route (online network)? 망치를 가진 남자에게는, 모든것이 못처럼 보인다. 원숭이도 나무에서 떨어진다. sfcal
I'm gonna say I think Houston and BYU for 12, if it's 14, maybe Cincy, BYU, Houston and Memphis The playoff is here and I can hardly believe this day has come. Now when will the playoff expand to 8 teams? 2016 please come true.
