New Mexico Recruiting 2017

Recommended Posts

First up, D.J. Green, Woodrow Wilson High in Dallas. 5'11 Athlete (DB, RB,returns) though I'd expect to see him on defense. Odd set of offers, lots of smaller schools...and Michigan. Go figure. District and Area track champion.

New Mexico just received a commitment from NM recruit Dylan Weaver.

6'7 290 pound OT. He decommitted from Texas Tech to play for Davie

Consensus 3 star recruit and #2 rated OT in NM.

Lobos picked up Cameron Burston...good QB for Davie's offense.  Fresno cut him loose but he's still a good player, just didn't fit what tedford wanted to do + couldn't enroll early like Reyna.

How does he fit in an option offense?

He'll have 3 years to play 2. I wonder if he'll red-shirt next year.

He's another 3 star for Davie.

Davies is loading up on JCs, making a run at '17/'18 if I had to guess. Good move, get some quality talent to capitalize on momentum.

Davie said he may take 10 JCs since there are so many slots to fill, he'll still be able to sign 18 HS kids which makes for a balanced class. The class coming off redshirt is one of the best talent wise in Lobo history but young and inexperienced. Lobos need to keep this rolling to get the fans back.

it's not ALWAYS a terrible thing for scholarship balance (fresno's doing it because we had like 65 guys on scholarship this year counting seniors) but juco loadups are risky...on the barkboard sweeney's last(?) year is thrown around as an example a lot, where he signed like half the top 25 juco guys in the country that year and imploded

Lobos pick up anothe JUCO commit in Aaron Blackwell DT. He has 3 years to play. He was a former Weber St commit and then went the JC route to Mesa. Davie is using JUCOs to bridge between this years graduating class to the very talented redshirt & redshirt freshmen classes. We now have 14 commits so we're half way there.

Lobos' class balance isn't bad and some of these guys are 3 for 2. At least a couple of redshirts. That and staff is recruiting for need, not a lot of best available athlete recruits on the JC side.

Another JUCO commit for UNM.

RayShawn Boyce 6'5 240 pound DE from Los Angeles

Offers from Fresno St., Houston, UCF and SDSU.

UNM needs edge rushers and I think this guy will push for time right off the bat.

I think those offers where from when he was in high school. Not now.

Your administration is the reason why our basketball league is bleeding out currently. If you didn't insist on San Jose being in the MWC, so you guys would have someone that votes similar to SDSU, every team in the MWC wouldn't have to play 2 games vs. a team with a 330 RPI ranking EVERY season.

You guys are as stupid as you are desperate.   - Cowboy Junky

Fresno wanted him out for a visit but not till the 27th.  School with the first visit gets a jump....fresno's been the beneficiary of that this year a few times too.
