Fresno State 2017 Commits

It looks like our class is pretty close to being complete. Based on a Tweet that came out last night, it doesn't look like we're going to be flipping Jaylon Johnson unfortunately. We'll see if ant surprise come in.

Really odd as we have a good QB prospect already. Not super sold on Salazar, but whatever

Interesting twist on this. One of the contributors on the BB posted that he wouldn't be playing QB.  That's why the flip. Makes since if that's what he wanted to do

Yea Salazar seems like a depth guy, our long time QB commit Roane will be a starter when Chapmans gone

It looks like both Fresno and SDSU had good classes. Fresno has to get back to relevance again. It will take both of us to make the MWC west respectable.

It's up to SDSU/Fresno/Hawaii to do well in the west.

They told him they'd honor the scholarship but he wouldn't be a QB. Guess he'd rather hold a clipboard than play DB.

From video of the kid, he doesn't look athletic enough to play any secondary position except strong safety. SDSU's current FB is a converted QB and will be a senior and the backup will be a sophomore so if Salazar is unimpressive while redshirting, it wouldn't surprise me if they persuade him to bulk up and try FB.

BTW, Rocky spoke very highly of him at this afternoon's presser. Obviously our staff is more impressed with Salazar than those of us on this board. Edit: So are two guys on AztecSportsReport who have major cred so maybe you Bulldogs will eventually miss him after all.

Boom goes the dynamite.

Tedford has very specific criteria he likes in QB...they don't always align with what we as fans see. I do know arm strength and athleticism are further down the list behind toughness and intelligence. Whatever the case, Salazar may end up holding a clip board, or he may end up being a starter for the Aztecs and torch everyone. Just because a kid is great for one program doesn't mean he'd be great in any program. I can attest to this by a couple of former Fresno State QB that transferred to other schools and beat us...but they were below average under Pat Hill.

At the end of the day it's a win-win...kid gets free college, and close to home. And Fresno State isn't stuck with someone the old staff wanted and they didn't.
