We've seen this from Leftist Socialists before, and we know that it doesn't end well...

Oregon shitlibs banning books?  What a shocker.

The  brown shirt left wants to silence those who oppose or even question their agenda.

Jack Moron will chime in soon demanding a link from another source.   Unless huffpo or MSLSD reports it, it didn't happen.

Only a Huge Dump would consider Nazism "leftist". I'm pretty sure Hitler didn't consider himself "leftist".

You contards will do anything to demonize the other side.

You're pathetic.

That goes both ways, no?  Each side digs up every little thing they can lets the insults fly.  Two party system FTL.

Nice deflection.  You should play winger on a hockey team.  They make the best deflections, and score points in the process.

If I state something that is as flagrant as the loons here do, feel free to call me out on it.  That's what I'm doing in this thread.

I was not talking about you per se but I have seen you post some silly stuff clearly trolling the right.  Don't deny it.  I was talking about the hard core people on both sides of the political spectrum.  Very little difference in the way they attack the other side.

If I post silly stuff, it's outright trolling.  And it's always in response to some rechtie going deaf-con 1.

I agree that in the media, the pundits on both sides can go off the rails.  But suggesting Nazism is a leftist ideology isn't original to morons like Huge Dump.  He's parroting pundits.

I don't parrot pundits.  And the comparison is as dishonest and misleading as they come.

I'm equal opportunity though, so if someone posts that some left leaning pundit made some ridiculous claim like Huge Dump's, I'd denounce it too.

It's neither left wing or right wing in the sense that we use the terms.

IMO, if someone starts comparing someone or some view to Nazis or Hitler, they've already lost the debate.  It also trivializes the holocaust, IMO.

We've never had anyone or anything even resembling Hitler or the Nazi movement.

Huh.  Didn't that just happen in this thread?  Didn't you participate with your "brown shirts" comment?

And uh, yeah, you guys are most definitely trying to suggest that Nazism is a leftist ideology.  Pundits began it, and then their minions disseminate it on message boards.

I look at the brown shirts comments as more of a jab at authoritian practices and attempts to force your own view on others. Or in this case, preventing students from learning opposing views.

On the rare occasions when I use that term, I dont mean to imply nazism, but I do see your point and should probably have used a different term.

I draw the line at the specific comparison to Nazism and/or Hitler. It's one thing to use them while trolling, but some people seem to be serious about it.

"Brown shirts" to me just means a "my way or no way" type of attitude and it's not limited to libs or cons.  But since our liar in chief is a lib, my comments are directed at libs.  But in truth, the way I use it, we have both dem & Repub brown shirts.  But it's the dems who piss me off the most. ?

But banning books is brown shirt behavior, IMO,  no matter which side is doing the banning.  I doubt you would disagree.

Years ago, some school districts banned some of Mark Twain's books because of the racial overtones.  I didn't agree with that either.  It is a part of our history that should not be ignored.

I read those books when I was a kid and I'm guessing you did too. I don't think either one of us are worse off for doing so.

But back to the subject at hand, can you defend what they did in Portland?

Ummm...first of all the Nazis hated communists.  They were pretty much their arch enemy from the beginning.  The ideas that Nazis are on the "left" is idiocy.

Secondly, if there are elements that are trying to put creationism, Noah's Ark, and climate change denial into a science book, I would say to burn them too!  Pseudoscience, beliefs, and religious theories can be talked about in other classes.  Nonsense dressed up as science doesn't belong in science books.  Sorry but every crackpot belief that isn't supported by the scientific community doesn't get equal treatment in science textbooks.  Skepticism is a core foundation of science, though, and should be encouraged if you can prove your results in some fashion.

To accept that you'd have to accept that climate change is settled science.  It's not and its not even close to being settled.  Climate science is still in its infancy. Just in the last 30 years or so, we've  gone from the "greenhouse effect" to global warming to climate change.  Climate change works best because they can cover their bases and blame any significant weather event on CC, even though they still haven't come up with accurate predictive models.

IMO, CC is kind of the new Cold War and like the old Cold War, is a method of population control and a way to for guys like Obama to reward his friends with Solendra like contracts.  The only difference is the threat from Russia was a bit more real than the unknown threat of CC.

I find it laughable when guys like Bernie say CC is a greater threat than ISIS.  But the left wing sheeple eat that shit up like its candy.

I think every president has been called Hitler by some group at some time since the 60's.  Hell I see people comparing Obama to Stalin, Trump to Hitler and Hillary to Mao almost everyday on one social media site or another.

Your feelings and conspiracy theories don't get to be represented in scientific textbooks.  Students should know what the current consensus is without the spin that you guys like to introduce when the science doesn't match your desired political view or desired outcome.  You don't get to change science because you don't like the results.

We don't teach Alchemy, Astrology, or Phrenology in science class because there are "some scientists" who believe they could be real.  WTF?

Good thing there are still some people left who understand that the greatest threat to the world are brown people and man-women in the wrong bathroom.

Yeah, they've all been compared to Hitler.  And the anti-Christ, which is ridiculous, because anyone with half a brain knows that Oprah is the anti-Christ

Couple of facts here:

1. This decision was made by the Portland Public Schools Board, and not by "the left."

2. The banned textbooks are scientifically inaccurate, so...yay!

1) what is the difference

2) just a phony excuse for the left to practice censorship

Whoa now.  Comparing Noahs ark to a scientific debate on climate change is beyond ridiculous.  Climate change is clearly happening, no denying that but what most people argue about is the reason WHY it is happening and if it is even a big deal if it does.  Did you know Carbon levels are actually at a very, very low level like all time low since life first appeared on earth?  Yes they are higher than they were 200 years ago.  They are a fraction of what they were 20 million years ago.  20 million years ago they were a fraction as high as they were 175 million years ago.  No earth destroying runaway greenhouse effect took place then, and none will now.  Humans are about 50 years away from being weened off fossil fuels, let capitalism and continued innovation do its thing.  The sun is going through a hot phase right now, of course we are seeing record highs.

“We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are determined to destroy this system under all conditions”

– Adolf Hitler, Hitler’s speech on May 1, 1927. Cited in: Toland, John (1992). Adolf Hitler. Anchor Books. pp. 224–225. ISBN 0385037244.

This is probably why some consider fascism a left wing movement

“Well-researched, seriously argued, and funny.” —Publishers Weekly“Bold and witty… [Goldberg] makes a persuasive case that fascism was from the beginning a movement of the left.” —New York Post“Jonah Goldberg is the first historian to detail the havoc this spin of all spins has played upon Western thought for the past seventy-five years, very much including the present moment.” —Tom Wolfe  Comment on Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism". interesting read.

Not saying that that's what liberals are now but, most don't know the roots of their insults.
