TheSanDiegan
So according to his AAU team, consensus 5-star (and #11-ranked overall on Scout) recruit and recent Arizona de-commit T.J. Leaf is considering SDSU among his list of eight:Now, given he recently returned from a trip playing in Israel (his first trip abroad?) and given he went to Christian HS, which share its El Cajon campus with Christian Heritage College and one of the larger local church congregations (with national reach), IMHO he is probably going to go play pro ball in Israel - what good Christian wouldn't want to associate with "God's chosen people" in the land where he believes his savior is going to return (I mean, face it - Jesus probably would get kicked down courtside seats for every game)? There is no stronger motivator than belief... well, that and money. However, that being said - and recent history with the Leaf family aside - is it possible that his 'shepherds' would rather keep him closer to the flock? Not only is Fisher beloved by parents as a great mentor of young men, but by staying home and playing on the Mesa, he would still be able to maintain the close ties to church and family that are likely deeply-held values for this young man. Well, that and getting paid of course.Of course, Indiana is the "family choice," and there are rumblings on the Mesa that UCLA has the inside track.Nonetheless, it's interesting to see us mentioned in the conversation - what a coup that would be. East Coast Aztec
I will hold out hope, but this may turn out bad for us. TJ at Zona improved our odds with Cage. Now??????
TheSanDiegan
I will hold out hope, but this may turn out bad for us. TJ at Zona improved our odds with Cage. Now??????Yep... the proverbial double-edge. I'm a strong believer that small victories lead to big successes, and myself would have been perfectly content had TJ stayed with his commit and the recruiting waters had remained unperturbed. But either way, I think we are in play for enough bigs that provided we play to (or at least near) our potential this season, we'll have little problem filling the holes left by the departure of Sky and Chol, though I also suspect that regardless of how strong our recruiting class is (or isn't), we're going to see a setback to some degree after losing Sky, Chol, Winston, and Pope. TheSanDiegan
So the list is down to six, and he's lined/lining up his officials. It would seem only UCLA or Gonzaga will get the slot for the pair. Ditto us and the Heels:

TheSanDiegan
Gotta love the fact Fish gets to bat clean up with the last-scheduled in-home visit. Still unlikely to happen IMO, but possible nonetheless.
4UNLV
Congrats. To the aAztecs, top 100, 6'9" forward / wing. Per Alex Kline:Impressive job by San Diego State taking Jalen McDaniels out of Washington considering how hot UDub has been on the recruiting trail. roughrider
Big deal. They audition for a year and leave. He clearly can't see it for the detriment to on the floor progress it always seems to be. He wants a recruiting trophy for his son Dave Rice. Let's chip in and buy him one and maybe he disappears. I suspect he gets real quiet once the season starts, again.
