  1. I was not an Alford fan at UNM, smug and condescending. Since the UCLA experience he’s much better and wiser. I’m a fan now and we’re lucky to have him.
  2. I wanted to stay within 20 minutes of work so Somersett was a good compromise. I looked at Rancharrah but the back yards were tiny and I couldn’t stomach the $650 HOA fees. Arrow creek was a little pricey for my needs, though $350 per sf at Somersett isn’t exactly a bargain.
  3. Yes. I’m going to have to polish my golf game a little. The town has changed a lot since I left. Sparks is halfway to Pyramid Lake and Verdi is part of Reno it seems. The realtor wanted to show me something in Steamboat. Really? Anyway, not to high jack the thread, Alford has made more than 20 million over his career with housing and expenses generally paid for. Over 30 years, the return on his initial investments would have increased 2500 percent. If he goes to Stillwater, it’ll be about ego not money.
  4. SLC is a city I could live in. I have a son who goes to the U. It’s like Denver 30 years ago albeit housing prices are ridiculous. I never applied to U of U for my residency and regretted it as I drove through Salt Lake. Instead, I ended up in Denver, in the plains. I’m moving back to Reno next month and all those Vegas lovers can stay south. I’ll have a view of the Sierras and the Truckee is a mile away for fishing and the mountain bike park is down the street.
  5. Nice win. Good start to validating our bids. Also an extra 2 million.
  6. Maybe they had a bad game against Oregon. I read pretty much the same scouting report as you just posted so I expected much better than I saw at the game. KJ Simpson might be the only CU player that can get his own shot and he was tentative with several stupid turnovers. Lambkin is quick for heavier guy but I like Boise’s chances if that’s the team that shows up. CU also cost me 500 bucks on my parlay.
  7. That was always the better choice and he’d be a clear number 2. The current expected backup was a depth addition for USC and former UNM commit from JUCO. Riley might be desperate for another qb but he’s clear on passing on guys in it for the NIL bag.
  8. Choate not happy getting passed over by Boise twice.
  9. I also got better deals on Chrono24 than dealers that didn’t have a lot of inventory.
  10. As you know, your preferences change week to week. Most of my wrist time goes to my Seamaster and my orange dial Seiko GMT. I started wearing my Maurice Lacroix chronograph again. Instead of Tudor’s, one got a Nomos and the other a Longines blue moon dial.
  11. I bought new with manufacturer warranty but no issues with the watches so hopefully I won’t need to find out if there issues.
  12. I bought my Omega and Nomos through them. No issues and you can track your watches market value on it.
  13. I think NIL is solid for a mid major. Jazz was fishing for a large NIL deal before he signed and couldn’t get his number. He had several deals as a high schooler. I trust Alford though, he seems to pull donors from thin air.
  14. Hopefully Alford has the NIL donors lined up so they can keep them.
  15. Been to both and I don't know anyone that prefers it to Lawlor.
  16. Matt Entz from NDSU. The Dakotas produce outstanding football coaches and recruit to the worst weather in the country.
  17. Practice pattern’s definitely have changed from both a cultural and legislative influence. Newer docs want work life balance and a paycheck while older docs like me can’t afford the ever increasing practice and liability insurance expenses. Private practice was waning anyway and the ACA pretty much gave it its death Nell. Employment by hospitals and insurance networks is pretty much the model for most specialties now resulting in concentration of new doctors in metro areas. I’m going down that road myself. Semi rural areas like yours and mine will have difficulty attracting new docs or replacing retiring docs. So yeah it’s intermeshed in multiple ways not the least of which is avoidance of hassles like nebulous anti abortion laws. I’m leaving my town to move back to Reno after 29 years and I’m actually feeling a little guilty that my leaving may start a cascade of obstetricians leaving the area as the call requirements increase, leaving another New Mexico town with limited access to women’s health care. On a brighter note, I understand that NM is considered a Mecca for transgender transplants from unfriendly states. It just might take a while to get in to a doctor for the hormone prescription.
  18. The Perinatologists do that but once in the hospital, at least in community hospitals, the hospitalists/laborist do the procedures. There generally aren't enough of the MFM guys to do all of the hospital stuff. At university/training hospitals, the perinates will supervise fellows or residents in house. Our hospital has an MFM hold a 2 day clinic every 2 weeks. I actually did my ob rotation down at UMC in med school. I'm sure it's way different now.
  19. I don't know if there would be problems with getting medical liability insurance other than the usual increasing cost. Malpractice liability insurance wouldn't cover unlawful acts from the abortion ban anyway. Perinatal services can often be done with telemedicine as they generally are a consultative service and the generalist Obs do the actual procedures. But you guys are generally right about it not being an attractive location for new doctors. Not so much about the elective abortion ban but the situations when it's not elective such as early miscarriages where there is a fetus and heavy bleeding which is very common. Some crazy politician could conceivably try to get them charged criminally. No doctor wants to be involved with that.
  20. Nice! It’s not easy taking good watch photos.
  21. Over the past 10 years, McClure has led the recruiting effort which has resulted in Bruin classes being ranked among the nation's top 20 in each year. In 2013-14, he was named among the Top 25 Recruiters in College Football by Rivals. BERKELEY – Cal head coach Justin Wilcox announced Friday that Angus McClure has agreed to become the Golden Bears' offensive line coach. McClure is considered one of the elite recruiters in college football and has 28 seasons of coaching experience, including 24 in the collegiate ranks at UCLA, Nebraska, Nevada, Buffalo and Sacramento State.
  22. McClure is considered an elite recruiter. Obviously hasn't panned out with performance. Transfer portal and NIL sure has changed the game. For instance, all walkon BYU players get paid the equivalent of semester tuition, around 6k. Hard to compete with that.
  23. I think you may be my favorite poster. Filterless.
  24. UNLV is improving every game. Fresno has plateaued with Keene out. I like your chances winning 2 of those 3 as painful as that is to type.
  25. The movement is very cool with excellent reserve if not as accurate. I’m not an accuracy nerd so it doesn’t bother me. I would beinterested if they put it in a cheap tissot or mido dive watch.
